Bali Bound

Hello all.  I have survived 4 flights and arrived without much issue in Medan.  Did have a bit of an issue with my passport but made it in with days to spare. We've headed north into the sumatran jungle to bukit lawang.  It was a long drive but we had a good first night with some monkey spotting. Today was filled with orangutan excitement during our hike.  We saw five of them today!  Tomorrow we are heading back into the jungle for a longer trek and hopefully more animal excitement!

I'm finally at the airport.  Feels like I've been waiting for this trip for such a long time that it feels a bit surreal that it is finally here. Indonesia is a tricky location to get to.  Its just north of Australia but doesn't get as much tourism so it's a good 20 some hours to get there from edmonton.  I've opted to go through London to join Terry there and get a nights rest halfway through.  And then it is another 13 hour flight to Kuala Lumpur. It is a trip that includes 12 flights altogether to get there and to move around the country!

Welcome back for more travel adventures! 2017 is taking me for my first foray into Asia, with a trip to Indonesia.  As always its a bus tour through the country, visiting 3 islands out of over 17,000.  Orangutans, komodo dragons and the beaches and monkeys of Bali are all a part of the adventure for Terry and I. Check back May 1st when all the excitement begins.  As my usual I'll do little updates along the way when time and wifi cooperate and the full blogs with pictures once I'm back.
